I'm torn. I have a 20 gallon that is almost finished cycling. Now originally I had planned on adding a breeding pair of Rams to the tank. Rams are bright and colorful, how do they add up on the personality side of things? I was thinking of exercising another option and going with dwarf puffers. I'm not sure how many would do well in a 20 gallon. I've made sure there is alot of cover and caves in my tank to block line of sight. Soo should I go with the colorful rams or the personable puffers?! I know I'm always asking for opinions and suggestions. As well I've heard puffers are super fun come feeding time.

Thanks,
Logy

P.S - I love you my fellow fish enthusiasts!

If you do go with DPs you could get 6 or 5 and some otos. I've never had german rams only bolivian and I like them a lot so far. I've also had DPs and they are pretty amazing fish. Either would make a really cool tank.

Puffers may be fun at feeding time but the rest of the time they'll be lost in that tank. I think the rams would be a lot more interesting and you'll have more tank mates available to choose from.

If I were to go with the Rams, would I be able to add any other fish with them? A small schooling fish perhaps?

Thanks,
Logy

I was thinking about getting a few harlequin raspborra's with them. I've only heard good thing about harlequins! They are typically what we call "le sexy".

Tough choice. The beautiful colors of the rams or the personality of the puffers?

I think I would go with puffers, how many you get depends on the dimensions of the tank. When it comes to puffers, a 20 high should be stocked like a 10 gallon, so no more than 3-4. For a 20 long you could do 6.

If you go with Rams, you could get a small school of something with them. They will be less likely to breed with other fish in the tank though.
