hiya,

Sunday just gone I decided to buy a shoal of 8 neon teras about a cm and a half in length. Went though the process of climating them to my tank, my water reading are fine and I am using RO water due to the fish purchased from LFS are in soft water by the way my tank has been up and running without any hitches for approx. 3 months. The only death I experinced was with 3 Rummynose teras and that was in the first month. When it came to switch on the lights about an hour later I saw one of the neons half eaten on the bottom of the tank. Due to time constrains and running late for work the following morning I didn't do any checks. That evening I sat in front of the tank for what seemed like ages and not one of them was visable. What could have happened?? a mass exdous  I scoured the tank and couldn't even find any dead fish. I can't even blame it on the inmates as the only fish of any size are the trio of mouthbrooders and the male is only approx. 2 ins and the females are half his size.

Have you checked the floor behind the tank. Those neons are quick and could shoot themselves out of very small openings if they were being chased. My Golden Wonder Killi got so excited at feeding time a few days ago he shot himself right out of the tank and on to my foot!

Hi all,

Fiske, the mouthbrooders are Pseudocrenilabrus Nicholsi and the only thing I've ever seen him come to blows with was the male Agassizii which now has been housed in another tank with a harem. The only other fish hes mean to are the two female companions as they won't indulge in any nookie :) even with all the displaying that he does on a daily basis.

MoparORnoCAR , due to having a shoal of Hatched fish that seem to behave like your killifish my tank also has a plastic covering as well as a hood.

Joephys You've got me worried do you think the mouthbrooders had an expensive lunch on me?
