Newbe question.

I have two tanks. Water temp of the two are within a few degrees of each other.

I want to transfer some fish back and forth from one tank to the other. I think just scooping them up and dropping them in the new tank is bad.

I'm trying some logic here and just want to know what more experienced folks would do.

Take a baggie, put the fish and a cup of old tank water in it. Float them in the new tank for about 15 mins. Add a cup of new tank water to the bag, float them for another 15 mins and dump them in?

I did "seed" the newer-ish tank with a few gallons of water from the old tank but that was a week or two ago.

I scoop and net, depending on fish size..good lower the level and also use an appropriate sized clean container.

The water wouldn't do much for seeding the new tank. Hope you plan on transferring some existing media over and monitoring water parameters with a good liquid test kit.

Just got the good liquid test kit. Cycling both tanks now and picked up some salt as well. I am half way thinking of testing the water (treated) out of the tap.
