Any ideas? The catfish are about 50cm in lenght...he must survive a ride(car) for 3 hours....in a plastic box...and his name is HUGIN :) ...what should you do?

Hmmm, wow. Can't keep him in the tank, too much pressure on the glass, not to mention the fact that he might damage himself flipping out...the plastic bag would probably be a good way to move him, if you put a plant in it...a BIG bag. And if you set him on your lap and take every for-sure shortcut.... ... ... ...this will take a lot of luck...*ponders*

I'd use Clear plastic bags. Lower the water level considerably and lead it into the bag.
I'd suggest triple bagging it, using newspaper in between each bag to help insulate and darken to reduce stress. Then place in a styrofoam box for the ride where ever.

Or since its a pretty long ride, you could use a large rubbermaid a put them all in there. PLace an airstone in there for gas exchange.

I'll have to remember this thread, I'll probably be taking all my fish on a four-hour drive up to UNCAsheville someday...
...yeah, yelling at people to get the heck out of my way before my fish die. Not a good way to make new friends...unless they have fish, too.

And most of my current fish have spines...yaaaay! ^_^ Yeah, you have to watch out for the catfishes, most of them don't look like they have spines. My mother made that mistake trying to dip one of my upside-downs, and there was blood everywhere. Another reason for triple-bagging. Or boxing.

I would use a large, plastic cooler. It will be strong enough to insure that the spines won't damage the bag. The insulating properties of the cooler will help maintain temperature. You should only need a cooler as long as the fish is, so it won't be too terribly big.

Ok...thank you for replay....Shall buy an airpump connected to cig plug in the car...also use a big styrofoame box instead of plastic bag(this fish is big...hes antennas are 30cm)....And...Here we go hugin!!We gonna take a ride!!
