How long can a coral live without having proper lighting and heat becuase my brother will be picking a coral up for me and it won't get to me for about 3 days. WIll it survive?
Is your brother able to judge a healthy coral vs. a coral in decline?
I would suggest double bagging for sure, in oversized bags, and he should check them regularly for leaks. I've come back from my LFS a couple of times with leaks. Why no heat? He should keep them in the 72 to 78 range without to many severe shifts eitherway. Leathers should be OK. Hards will need some gentle care to ensure they are not jammed up against anything that will damage their soft tissues. On the off chance he's bringing you acropora you will want some extra padding in the bag with the specimen and the water as they will puncture plastic quite easily. I wouldn't worry about the light too much. Don't mean to sound harsh but 3 days is a long time to be out of a good evironment and he should take good care of the specimens. It would be sad to have them all end up dead. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. :thm:
ya i was going to get some zoanthids becuase they are quite rare in canada and i found some so i wanted him to pick some up for me. I'll tell him to call me when he is at the store and i'm sure the guy/girl there should help a bit. thanks
