Im not sure if I read it on here but I was wondering if anyone had a link for the coke bottle fish trap that traps hard to net fish using a coke bottle.

Or if anyone could do a step by step and post it. I THINK I know how to do it. But just want to be 100% sure so I dont put something in my tank that wont work. TY

A funnel secured to a container may be better if the fish are small.

Basicially any invesred funnel (which channels the fish to swim through the small opening, and then ishard for them to swim out) will work fine.

It's a great idea on ketching fish! Now why didn't I think of this a few weeks ago!!!

Just place some 'smelly' food that they like (i.e. shrimp pelletes and wait). You may get more than 1 fish, but then you cna easily net the on you're after ;)

I will post a pic of a fish-trap if I can find one.

Be careful if you have labrynth fish. If they get in the bottle while you arent watching, it could kill them. I lost a pair of gold gourami's this way. Was actaully using a 1 g fish trap. Seemed all the fish but the ones I wanted to catch would get into the trap. I ended up buying a ten inch net..caught the fish in less than 2 min in my 75 g tank..as sad loss just to remove a few fish for me..

why would it kill labyrinth fishes?

Labyrinth fish like bettas, gouaramis, and paradise fish must go to the surface of the water to breath in atmospheric air. They do use their gills a bit like other fish, but if they can't breath from the air they will suffocate. So now you know, it is possible for a fish to drown... :dance2: http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/fishspecies/l/blwill113000.htm
Sorry to hear about your gouramis Blue. :(
