treat whole tank or just fish

i have a sick fish that i think has Septicemia so i been looking up about the disease and i was wondering if i should take out the fish and treat in a smaller tank or treat the whole tank
that is the only fish that looks sick should the rest of the tank be treated or just the sick fish?
i have the same question for ick
one of my fish had ick i treated the whole tank and i think thats why my bala got Septicemia or somthing like it
should i have just treated the sick fish and left the rest of the tank alone
does the disease stay in the water like does the water have to be treated also

First- don't treat unless you are 100% sure you have something- ("i have a sick fish that i think has Septicemia").

Second- the answer on whether to remove a fish to a hospital tank depends on what the disease/parasite actually is. As you are investigating and/or identifying a specific disease you will find out if it is specific to one fish or is something that has a life cycle (or other factors) to be considered.

For ich you must treat the whole tank.
