Tricks to keep plants in sand planted

I go for the natural look in my tanks so I have a variety of rocks in different sizes. I love the look of sand but it just doesn't grip....so I place the plant where and how I want it in the sand and then add a small cluster of rocks or pebbles. I have a large pleco in there too and the plants stay put. HTH, Michelle

I find planting in sand to be very easy. I use these http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl3684/cp18486/si1380082/cl0/tomaquaticgardener27long.
they work great and also come with a pruning end. Because they are long, your hand and arm don't even need to be in the water. Just push stem plants in as deep as you can and they should stay. Swords and plants with large root structures take some time to get all the roots under the sand but once in they stay in.
