just wanted to clarify that I ment in the past I felt smilies annoying as I can certainly see their importance now. Especially since words innocently spoken can be innocently misunderstood. I too have a basically dry sense of humour and can already see the need for choosing my words (and smilies ) carefully.

It may be a good thing that I am a man of few word?!?

As Dale has said words on the net are too easily misunderstood. You almost have to talk like a baby, and use no expression, the smiles are for that.
