Tropheus Duboisi

Yep they look like this while juvies but there adult coloration is black with a white band just pass the gills and a blue head..

Trust me guys i will get more i just popped down some money on these 7 i am going to get 4 more soon.. maybe like next week..

Hey Austin yep i am pushing the limits with my 120gal and i know i will get a few more KIA's and if it doesnt work out i will go out and buy a 75gal for them.. o crap i just may do that anyways hehehe.. but i consider myself an advanced hobbyist and totally prepared to intervene.. yeah my lelupi's have killed off a lot of fish i just got tired of reporting all the fish deaths in my 120gal i lost all of my caudopunct's, all except 5 calvus and i even lost a few of the less dominant lelupi so pretty much here is the stock list for the 120gal..

4 Lelupi i had 6
5 calvus i had 15
3 cylindricus no one will mess with these guys
4 mustax lelupis only chase these now
4 Julido's a few were killed off

and the newest additions the duboisi

all water perimeters are fine tested with liqiud test kits from API, weekly 50% water changes and monthly canister filter cleanings with new media added no problems aye..

Yes i am very aware of bloat issues and the greenage they need so i am definitely suppling the green stuff for them in spirulina flakes and pellets with added nori from asian market they love that stuff so far i had some extra on hand well because i love a nori wrap with steam rice in it umm good..

LOL. nori wraps.... I'm getting hungry! Great looking new additions!!! :) I want to see pics when they mature into their adult colorings. I bet they'll be some sexy fish!!! :)

You may have problems keeping them w/other Tang's that aren't veggie-eaters. Tropheus are also like mbuna in their diet, too much protein will cause bloat.
Totally agreed!
Although less sensitive than most T moorii I kept and bred, still can suffer from bloat due to either from too much protein and/or too much food taken in one sitting. Just give smaller amt per feeding with most veggie/spirulina flakes.

Oh SMD they sure will be some sexy lookers for sure with that beautiful blue head as adults.. thanks D..

NOTE: I do not feed high protein foods just for fear on killing my current Tangs, i keep up on the % and i do 2 small feedings a day with Sunday as a fasting day with water changes pretty much never had issues with bloat in any of my Africans Tangs or Malawi's setups..

I will err on the side of caution while keeping this species it is one i have never kept before, i have read up on them and i do understand that there will be somewhat of a challenge to keep them but hey that's the fun part..

Thanks to all..

Hey Pitt. The juvies are so cute! I'm sure you'll keep up on their dietary needs. I'm more concerned with your current stock. I have not kept Tropheus either but have read that they can be as aggressive as Mbuna. Is this just toward their on kind or can this spread to others? Most vegetarians are extremely territorial, I'm wondering if the Tropheus will be the same.

Yep i will more than likely place them in another tank i have a buddy that will hook me up on a 75gal but i will have to see what happens first plus i am moving all the Malawi fish outside to the grow out above ground pond 500gal when it gets warmer and if i have any problems with the duboisi i will placed them in the 55gal.. no worries gang..
