You can do that, but it can really stink, and it is hard to keep the ammonia at a consistent level and make sure the cycling goes smoothly

I never tried the meat I guess for personal preferences therefore can only tell you from the liquid ammonia source... I would rather go out and buy the liquid rather risk the stink...
