The pond with some Triops
ok... man I have so many questions. Here it goes...

I bought my first plants on Tuesday. I added fertilizer as soon as I was done planting them. I water change on Saturday. I forgot to water change so today (monday) i did the water change. The fertilizer states that you do it every week but i put the fert in again. now I think I overdosed by maybe 1 mL (5mL per 30 gal, i have 20 gal, 3 1/3mL)... is that ok? I'm going to probably do another water change saturday. is that ok? Then should I add ferts on saturday?

Second story:
I have this 1 gal box that purifies water. I add in tap water in. So today (not being sure if I added tap water today to refill it or not) i used this water. Since I was afraid that it had chlorine and chloramines I added ammo-lock after adding the water. I think I either underdosed or overdosed (I don't read the directions lol. Just a line of squirt across the tank). is that ok?

Third story:
Since my water has cold/hot faucet, to change the water, I put on both. my temp used to be 74 degrees but that one bucketful (I change water with my bucket. my bucket=20% of tank) raised my temp to 76 degrees. will my fish die from the water temp?

Fourth story:
I feed my tetras some pichful of food. the problem is that the tetras are scattered so when I drop the food, some tetras eat them all, but not all! I mean, my neons (black) at bottom couldn't eat because no food got down. So I got another pinchful for them. and my selfish silvertip ate them all AGAIN! So now they're fat. Will they die from overfeeding? Will the black neons survive for 6 days? I mean, the silvertip ate all the food and the black neons didn't eat for 6 days...

Fifth story:
I tied my fern onto a rock but it floats away (maybe 1 cm) but my string won't let it drift farther than that. Will the roots still cling onto the rock?

Sixth story:
My betta (and probably my silvertips) will/are constipated. I don't have any peas but I thought corn might work. then plah suggested that I should soak the corn...
1)why?
2)how long?

thanks for reading and please answer ASAP! :)

every question you asked before the constipation is fine. the wont die, there isnt going to be much clorine in the water, the temp change wont kill them, and i dont know about the corn.

Hello,

I can answer the fourth question. I've only heard of Goldfish eating too much and exploding. I think your piggy fish will know when to stop before they burst. Most fish can handle not eating for a month, so you should not worry about the Black Neons starving at this point. Try some sinking pellets or wafers so your Black Neons get some food at the bottom level.

actually, that's what i feed my fish - sinking pellets!

becuase they're supposed to be bottom dwellers...

Hi

Do you have 24 hour sinking wafers? Because they last a long time and all your fish could have a chance to eat some.

fore story #6, can I feed him beans to relieve constipation? Because that's what I did... of course, he threw up one piece...

:OT:
I REALLY want my betta in my main tank... can I add him? I mean, should I? He's in a puny 1 gal (still!)..... I think he'll get OTS and die! And I don't want OTS... how do i transfer him? will my fish nip him? Will my betta eat/kill/nip my tetras?

I know it's a maybe but I don't want to take chances...

I posted my reply in your Fat Betta thread. The soaking is basically to minimize the possibility of it expanding in his stomach and leading to bloat or digestive problems. This is more of a concern for dry foods like pellets and flakes, but I don't know what kind of corn you're thinking of, since it never occured to me to give my fish corn. If it's fresh corn, there's probably less of a concern than with dry corn seeds.
