Well my clowns lay down every night... I don't know when your watching them, but I know when mine goto "bed" the sleep on the sand usually in the corner...
If it's stressed or sick it may be doing this... I would suggest taking a close look at it to ensure it's not wounded or sick.
Sounds like its tired to me... and if its tired in the day, why?
check it out... and try to remove anything that may stress it... like toxic tank environments, mean fish, etc...
