True percula vs. false percula

w/o looking, these are the differences i found which led me, a beginner with mini-reef coming up here soon, to choose false.

true percula can grow a bit larger. it has black on it as well. it's less hardy than the false percula, but otherwise that's about it. all 3 reasons why i am leaning towards the false (ocellaris). also the ocellaris has an extra dorsal spines and its usually taller... i think they're prettier too :)

I could be totally wrong right now (I have been drinking :)) but I think a true perc is wild caught and a false might be tank raised.

Also, since the true perc is wild caught, chances of it hosting in an anemone or something is better.

But, again, I could have some facts wrong there.

Sounds good though, right?

yeah trues are wild and false is tank raised. not sure if the chances of hosting really changes though.
I was under the impression that the difference was both in size, dorsal spine count, black outlines, and (at least by me) price. I beleive either can be wild caught or captive bred.

I could be wrong two, this is just what I have gleaned in a short amount of clown research

No, they are tw different species.

Amphiprion ocellaris = False Percula
Amphiprion percula = True Percula

The reason they are called F Perculas is because they look very close to True Perculas. Kind of like fools gold.

Anyway, False Perculas are more hardy than True Perculas, IMO.

and that's exactly what i said in my first reply! :P
i reckon either can be tank raised upon a quick google.

That Fish Place is having a sale on them this week, btw. At least the retail store was...
