Trying a new kind of screw-in...LED 360 degree bulbs!

Update: I contacted the eBay seller regarding my 220V concern and requested to change my order to the 110V listing that Jspigs linked to. He was very accommodating, I'm just going to refuse it and then he'll send me the other kind of bulbs once he receives the refused package.

When I get the right bulbs...will update...but may be a while

I think it will be a nice color rendering, if a little stark white. If they work out, I am looking forward to them saving power...I use 26 watts in the tank I'm planning on putting these into, to use 14 watts instead would be sweet, that'd be a savings of over 3,000 watts a month :)

sorry to bust your bubble but that light probably will not output the rating for very long, even if it did work, i wouldnt expect it to last a year or be as bright as an equivilant cfl

the better way to go is 3w directional bulbs that cost a little more, the light will be more directed into the tank and will last longer..something like this

of course, neither work as well as good quality high powered led rigs

What I am using right now is a 30" (fit for a 29 gallon) normal output fluorescent hood modified for two CFLs. That bulb you linked to won't fit in my hood, it has to be a narrow bulb - although a bulb like that might fit well if you are using a clamp light or desk lamp arrangement.

It would disappoint me if it only lasted a year, but at $10 for two bulbs, it's not a huge deal. The tank gets plenty of natural sunlight during the day, and all I am growing in there is mostly algae for my otos and nerites and Java moss, lol. So it doesn't need to illuminate the tank too much. If the bulb works as well as a 10 watt daylight CFL, I'd be pleased.
