Could someone out there help me in finding somewhere where I can buy some fine black gravel? I cannot seem to locate places on the web. I do like the look of the known "black tahitian moon sand", but cannot find any gravel that looks similiar to it. I would rather hbuy gravel instead. I also want to buy a gravel that will not fade on me. I have found on the web, places that sell black glass aquarium gravel, but I heard that was not safe for your fish. I have seen on forums that some people have bought TexBlast and Stanblast gravel, but I can't seem to find it on the web. I have also seen that some people use this black beauty sandblasting gravel. Is this gravel okay to use? If someone knows where I can get some fine black aquarium gravel, please let me know, that includes phone numbers and addresses. PLEASE HELP!!!

Where are you in the UK, US etc etc???

And welcome the the forums :dance

so you basically want black sand?

look in the reptile department of your petstore.
at least take a look... but be careful because they have regular sand, and they have "calci sand," which is fortified with calcium, andi dont know if that would be any good in an aquarium.

good luck

look in the phone book for "pet stores" or "pet supply stores"

Black Gravel

I also am looking for black gravel. The last I bought was 30+ years ago in Lakeland Florida. I am now in Illinois. It is very shiny like glass but was not glass and the color did not fade. It was not the bigger epoxy coated stuff that you find in pet stores now. I have been looking for quite a while and have had no luck. Any help will be appreciated.

Maybe if you go into your local LFS and tell them what you are looking for, they can order it for you. Some of them are very nice like that.
