hey whats up i'm lookin to put somthing else in my tank with my tsn's i have 2 of the that about 5" inches long and i think arro's are really neat fish and would like to get one but not sure if they would get along or what what do u ugys think thanks

Maybe I am having a bad day..can't think of what a TSN is. Anyway, what is your tank size. Unless you have a 180Gallon or so I would not recommend an Arro. They get huge. They are not what I call mean fish either, but they will eat what fits in their mouth.
A TSN is a tiger shovelnose catfish. It's going to get big too. They can get over 48" although that size info comes from wild specimens. I really can't say how these fish would fair together. I have the same plans you do however of keeping them in a large tank.
My TSN hides all day and is only out at night. So the arowana is going to basically have the run of the tank during the day. The TSN could spook the aro at night however when it's cruising for food.

hey whats up i just ordered my arro today i ordered i smaller one so that the tsn's and it can grow together. if he is to small i'm just going to stick him in my 55 for the time being becaouse in about a month or so i'm going to be builiding a 200+tank for them that well be either 72x36x24 or 60x36x24 what do u think and what kinda of filter would u think ishould use. i can't wait to pick him up i just love my tsn's and then to get an arro to dreams come true it going to be one bad A#$ tank. well let me now what u think and lets keep in touch about eachothers fish peace.
Hopefully one of the fish won't end up in the others stomach.
As for filtering your tank... I've had really good luck with fluvals. I have 2 404's and 1 304. I'm a firm believer in lots of filtration though. 2 fluval 404's should do well on a 200 gallon tank. I'd add something else though just to make sure. Like 2 fluval 404's and a tetra triad 60. More than adequate in my opinion.
The tank I'm planning on building is going to be about 900 gallons. Maybe more if I can save enough by this fall. After seeing a few indoor ponds some of the members here have though I may go that route. Much cheaper and I can build it bigger.
You may want to post a topic in the general freshwater forums about your arowana. To get more info. I'm not sure how fast they grow. I know my TSN is up to 8+" now. And I've only had it since Jan 31st 2002. It was about 5" when I got it. Lately the only rosey reds I can get for it are pretty large ones. about 3". It has 3 every 2 days though. And the goldfish are always the first to go when I feed them. When I get rid of the upside down cats, or at least move them to another tank I'm going to start offering it beef heart and chunks of fish I catch. When it's warm enough for fishing again. What are you feeding yours?

Just my 2 cents... I grew a 6 in. all the way up to 30 inches in a
little over 2 yrs. He ate 100 lg feeders every 4 days !!! Think twice before venturing into the deep.

hey whats up i feed my feeders for right now because that is wha the pets store feed him when i bought him and i really havent had time to see if they well eat beefheart or anthing but now that i have got them where i want them for the time i well see if they well eat that. i'm trying to get mine to eat earthworms but i don't think they now it is food.
what size of tank do u have yours in right now and do they only eat at night because mine do. i bought 24 feeders last night and now there gone they where kinda of small ones though, and u have to rember i also have a small oscar in there with them. Well when i bought my tsn's they where about 4" long and now there about 7" to 8" now and i think they have stoped growing as fast as they where because i have only had them a month. i think the reason they grew so fast was becuase the lfs that i bought them from did't feed them alot so it kept them small and they where just hungry. well keep in touch later

I'm keeping my TSN in a 75 at the moment. I'm hoping it'll be fine until this fall when I plan on building my bigger tank. I keep my feeders in a 10 gallon tank. I feed 3-6 every 2 days. I also like to feed them well for a few days before feeding them to my TSN. To prevent any parasites or disease.
consider this a Warning!
I had an 8" TSN who swallowed my 5" Silver Aro. I suggest get them at more or less the same size. TSN grows as fast as Aro considering all the food for your Aro that will sink in the bottom of the tank will end up at TSN's stomach. Of course your tank size and Water quality will play al ot of part on this but better stocked up for food coz 2 full grown TSN and 1 Aro you won't have money for your grocery
