I'm actually more concerned about the tiles staying in place than I am a comet hitting the planet.

Don't forget a few years back a comet shattered and slammed in Jupiter. I know Jupiter is a bigger target than the Earth is but that proves it can happen.

Not to mention some of the huge craters that are under the ocean and in certain land masses that they think were caused by comet impacts millions of years ago.

If anyone wants to justify how it can't happen here, due to Jupiter's size, well the Earth is small in comparison, but, just a fragment of what happened to Jupiter means total destruction of the Earth.
