tube wom/feather duster

one of my tube worms has developed a crack in it's brown tube and the 'feathers' get stuck at this crack and can't make it to the opening of the tube anymore.... so now the 'feathers' never come out...

Are there any suggestions on how to fix this? Can it be fixed?

hmmm... my suggestion would be that depending on how far down the tube the crack goes u might be able to CAREFULLY cut it away. the worm will grow more tube anyway...

I agree. You'll want to feel carefully to make sure the worm is pulled past that tear, then use sharp scissors or a knige to slice away the tube. It's easily regrown, but make sure it doesn't get pinched down too far--they can be a pain to open back up, and if it's pinched too tightly, it can impede the crown as well.

Mine fixed himself

I have a small green duster that had the same problem. While my case is probably different than yours because my worm was laying flat on the substrate. He slowly extended a sandy tube out the bottom side until it was his total length, then broke himself off from the old tube. Again this may not apply to your case but I thought it was interesting none the less. Otherwise I'd say use small sharp scissors going around the tube so you don't pinch it closed. Good luck
