Tullio Dell Aquila

Hey ask him when it going to become affordable:grinyes:!! Just kidding. Thats cool, you will have to share some info with us on the led systems that you find fascinating. I've been reading up on them, but can't think of any good questions to ask.

I had to register and say HI :) It was nice meeting you today at the meet. The part that I got to hear on the presentation was pretty awesome. Unfortunately my girls got too noisy and it was time for me to step back :)

It was great meeting you too! So glad to have another female reefer in the club. And not to worry, we're all as addicted as you are. :)

I'll try to remember some of what he said to post about tomorrow. The presentation was fantastic though. This guy knows LEDs and for the first time I'm believing LED could be the real replacement to MHs. The technology that Tullio's firm has developed with some of the larger names in the industry are now making it possible for LEDs to get incredible shimmer and light quality as well. For now he says if you have metal halides stay with them because of the price difference, but there are some very exciting things you guys are going to be seeing hit the market in the next month.

What I found very interesting was at the end part of the presentation about the LED strip lights that can substitute actinics. I'll be first in line to buy and test those. Especially the fact that they can manufacture them at any length. If the pricing truly is going to be affordable to the medium reefer, I don't see any reason why this technology won't take the industry by storm. Awesome stuff!

The part for me was the difference in lumens between what is about to hit the market and what Solaris offers. Solaris LEDs are 80 lumens, these are 200! And he has reflectors around them so they are blinding! Not only that but the difference in lumens gives ripple effects so you don't lose the shimmer of MHs. When I took him to the aiport this morning he said he'd send me a note when everything else he talked about is available through various sources.

Sounds like you had a very interesting club meeting.
