I found my snapping turtle dead in the tank yesterday. I have no idea what happened - I tossed in a few crayfish for her on Wed, she was happy about that, and she seemed just fine when I did water changes on Sat. Came down Sunday morning, she was upside down on the bottom of the tank, gone. Freakin sucks.

Sorry to hear that Sploke, but you know, it happens. She could have had some birth defect or who knows what. Don't beat yourself up!

Oh man, Sploke that really sucks. Sorry bro. And you are one of the few people I know who have the proper sized setup and everything for an Alligator Snapper. I agree it could have suffered from a birth defect or other genetic illness because these guys are usually quite hardy when kept properly, and I know that you do your research and take very good care of your pets. What can I say except it happens to the best of us. I hope it didn't choke on one of those convict cichlids I gave you.

Sorry for the loss Sploke. :(

Awww man! I am so sorry to hear about this matt!!! You took excellent care of him, what a sad thing to have happen :(

i'm sorry about your turtle - maybe you can get another one? that's what i always try to tell myself if i'm worried that my fish are sick and i start getting paranoid about them dying, i just try to force myself to accept i can get another and make it's life better.
