Nice... but Id be worried about side loads. Id try to put a cross beam or two going across the back.

whats your clearance between the top of the lower tank and the upper level?

i was going to put a bookshelf above my 125, with a canopy on
a set of pulleys and a counter weight device beneath it. i figure the canopy will be 8" and i'd leave 12" of rise for maintainence.

I have a matching canopy cut and sanded just not assembled yet.
I also could use some ideas as to what tone to stain it.
The rims on both tanks will be hidden so skys the limit.
Here is a closer shot at the top and I know I need some puddy:rolleyes:

6" on the face with 8" hidden space under the top tank will mount the lights so as they arent in the way or visable. As long as the lid opens I'm fine :D The top tank sits at 44" off the floor like 75" with the canopy:eek: Thats ok I'm 6'6" planning on widening the footprint before I set it up.But its solid as a rock.

Somefinn, please place some kind of bracket or bracing across the back.....I'm really scared for you to fill the top tank with any water. If the slightest sideways pressure hits that top tank, the stand will become a rhombus quickly (remember geometry). This is nice looking, but real dangerous without supports. Have fun.

Its ok

I have four 2x4s holding up the top tank the bottom has seperate unseen 2x4s holding it up.Also the stabilility is done with the 1x8s front and back also 1x4s fromt and back lots of pre drilled holes I had no spliting. The top tank sits on a cheap pressboard under that is another 2x4 frame unseen.
OK I did sideing work for years and built at least 30 wooden pump poles over 30' tall basicaly 10' 2x4s laped every 5 feet to make a long 4x4 then nail it together stand it up and attach it to the roof.Seen one take over 1000lbs in the middle of the span:rolleyes: I do trust my stand I stood on it and cant get it to wobble In any direction. And to add to your concern for my saftey its a 55 over flow probialy only holds 42g will be filled with lighter flourite and no rock.I have little boys the three tanks up stairs have anti tip precautions in place:D
