Two Tanks - 1 Filter?

I still don't suggest a HOB filter for plants, if its heavily planted, you need light. And most people agree, once you get above 2wpg, you need CO2. Due to surface agitation of HOBs, most of your CO2 is gassed off. Hence why I went DIY.

If you don't want to go DIY, here is a canister filter that would cost about the same.

Put an AC 50 on each and keep it simple.

there are plenty of great low light planted tanks. i have 9 20 longs planted with hob or sponge filters.

also the more plants you have doesnt mean the more light you need. the plants you have determine how much light you need not plant mass.
