I’ve had two good-sized yellow tangs that I picked up from a fellow reefer about 7 - 8 months ago. FYI, he had had multiple yellow tangs in his tank. These two tangs have been together for quite some time. Everything was copasetic up until about a week ago. All of a sudden they are facing off, with the larger one trying to tag the smaller one. What would cause this? Is this love? Nothing has changed in my tank for some time.

I would suspect that as the fish have grown and matured, the one has grown unwilling to tolerate the other. It could be one trying to establish its territory, which leads to it bullying the other one. I have no idea what tang courting is like, so I couldn't even guess if that's what you're seeing.
