Ok, so I will be making my trip up to the LFS today or maybe tomorrow...took my readings and this is whet I got.

Salinity- 1.028

Calcium- 460

Phosphate- 0

Nitrates- 0

KH- 125.3

pH- 8.4

I can't do a ammonia test, my daughter decided it would be fun to change the color of the toilet water!!! So that is something I have to buy too now.

So what do I need to do guys???

I will be getting some LR, what else should I be getting? I will also be ordering the overflow, and return pump so I can get my sump running finally!!!

I would get everything in your sump and just get some water flowing thru it with a power head (pump from 1 end back to the other) so it will be ready to go online as soon as you get your over flow and pump, I would also get all the LR you want in your tank before adding livestock and bring your salinity down to 1.025. See if your LFS can check your ammonia and trites just to make sure.

Yeah, I wasn't going to get anything to "stock" it. I do still have my starfish, hermits and snails...but I want to get everything working and the readings correct before adding anything to it.

I have sand, will get some "rubble" for the sump, then that algae stuff (can't think of the name of it now?)...what else should I add to the sump?
 
Nothing more really, when you get the macro just remember if you get caulerpa you will need to keep light on it 24/7, if you get cheato you can run a reverse light cycle on your fuge. When you get the sump online you could add a couple of hermits and or snails depending on how large your sump is. Was it your tank that got hot during the heat wave we had if so keep several pop bottles frozen in case it heats up again.

Yes, that was me. My CA is fixed now though, so hopefully that isn't going to happen again, but yes...I will be keeping the bottles in the freezer from now...just in case!
 
Well, I wont be going until tomorrow now.....at least that gives me a little time to figure everything out that I need to get I spose!
 
I'm sure you already have looked into them, but since your replumbing anyway, seriously consider a chiller...Ive seen them as low as $100.00.. or there are 100's of DIY plans out there..
I say this, not only because of what happend to you, but it also happend at my LFS recently.. one of their AC units went out, and their chiller went down at the same time... fortunately, it was really only one tank that got decimated, but unfortunately, it was their best main display...
they lost a 2 foot diameter plating montipora, that i absolutely loved...
It was really sad to see all those bleached skeletons and blobs of lost corals...I feel so bad for you and them, and anyone that has happend to...
I am trying to come up with some kind of solid backup plan for my tank, if that were to ever happen, but since mines in a basement, I dont know that it ever could..but I'm definately looking into it...
 
Sorry to hear your tank got wiped out (I've been in and out of town for the last month or so). I'm glad it didn't frustrate you out of the SW hobby!
What did you do for a sump? I think I remember you posting about building one a while back? Are there pics somewhere?

Ironically enough, in our shop, the only tank that suffered heavy casualties was the tank with a chiller. It rose about 5 degrees above normal (shop was ~90 degrees or so) and wiped out most life. Tanks that didnt have a chiller did reach a higher temp, but lost little to no stock.
