I went wandering around Ubid the two days ago.
Clicked on the invert area.
Clicked to look at a shrimp.
Window went away, and got a pop-up about needing to scan for viruses.

Now I get to listen to my cpu go brrrr, brrrr, brrrr allll day.
And get pop-ups from no where.
Then about the 3rd page I try to go to. I get tabs start opening, opening, opening. Until cpu is running at 100% and I can't do nothing but hild the power button in to shut it down.

Just say'n.

Might not want to go their. : /

Well, when I click send, that'll be my 3rd page change and most likely be re-booting again.
Y'all have a nice day.

P.S. Plants r grow'n. : )

Was using Zone Alarm Suite.
Was the best they had around the end of november when I got this comp used, to replace the new comp(about 9 months old then) that was destroyed by a virus, missed by Norton.
Also paid for Zone Alrams "Force Field" that started screwing up around the 3rd week. So I uninstalled it. Instead of going through who knows what to try to understand what most people 20 yrs younger, probably learnt 10 yrs ago.
As in. When I around 8 yrs old. They flew to the moon usuing something like holes in a card for a computer. You know them first comps that wouldn't fit in my house, let alone on your desk top. And would kill you if they put it on your Lap. lol

After about 6 hrs wasted today fideling around. Basically doing the same 10 things over and over because of whatever reasons.
I went and downloaded. (was supprised I could do that, sense any other DL's I tried failed)
Norton's Free trial.(the people that had the epic Fail on my last comp)

Ran update
Then ran Scans(quicky)
found 1 spy cookie
Went into the Start-up thingy in Norton and told around 10 things Not to start at start up. Including 3 weird looking named files.
Ran the Full Scan
Everything came out looking pretty good except for a Error in Registry Cleanup.
Which I figured was most likely, the Locale of the the Problem. : /

Tried Just the "Registry Cleanup" 4 or 5 more times. Getting the same Error instantly.

........

This is all I've done sense Installing Norton. Comming to this forum.

.............

Stuff......

I have IE 7(?)
(No firefox or anything.)

What happened, stuff...

Went wandering around Ubid. Just being curious, because I new if/when stuff was going to be bought. It'd be the LFS or Here at AC.

Clicked on Invert area.(sorry, aint going back to get too detailed.) : P
Clicked on an auction for Shrimp, I believe.
Poof... window disappeared and pop-up came up.
I reacted pretty quick really. As I saw something about "you need to scan your comp for viruses.." And seeing a progress bar moving real fast. I clicked the X on the window, with bar at around 90%.
Got a new little window about Cancel / OK.
With all of this going through my mind faster than my mind should be going these days.
I clicked Cancel.
Which Canceled, my Cancel.
As I watch the bar reach the end in the next milli second.

All down hill from their.

2 days of listening to my processor do it's beavis imitation. Hehh Hehh Hehhh he Hehh alllll day.

Now that I done the Norton thing. At least that has stopped. : )

And so far no pop-ups.

I can't get the comp to start in Safe Mode?
I got an e-mail fro Zone Alarm tech saying restart and hit F8 every second. Then when it goes into Safe Mode....
I'd done tried that at least 10 times.
Also tried Ctrl / F8. But it would just stop loading all together then.

I'm sure, whatever is still lurking in my comp. So their won't be anything done on it, like, banking etc.

But no "Beavis" imatation is very nice for now. : )

Here's a link to a good free online virus scan. I had McAfee antivirus a couple years back, and somewhere/somehow picked up a virus that actually disabled the detection part of their program. After I found this one (google search for free online virus scan) it not only cleaned up that one, but about 9-10 other ones that had been undetected by McAfee even after the bug that had subverted their security was gone. I've been using AVG free edition w/out any problems for several years now.

I'm a bit confused by your chain of events. Your current computer is one you bought new to replace your previous computer, which you bought new and was "destroyed" by a virus? How on earth would a virus destroy the physical hardware? At worst, you might need to format the hard drive and reinstall everything. But, moving on...

I work for a tech support company. We've tried Norton. We've tried Trend Micro. AVG is the best, hands down, and there is a free license for personal use. The commercial license is $50 for two years---heck of a deal. I'd also recommend Spybot Search & Destroy (free) to scan for and eliminate spyware.

Firefox is a MUCH more secure browser than IE. It is also free. Give it a try---what have you got to lose?

That Almost worked. But....
they had a link right below the found 3 problems(trojan?)
So being curious. I clicked it. Instead of opening a new page. It changed the one I was on. So I lost the results and chance to delete(?) the problems.
Now the scan won't work anymore. Freezes up, usually.

Got anymore suggestions?
I promise, not to be curious. If I get that far again.

My New comp. Got so bad it wouldn't even start up again. Something like while starting would go to the black screen and freeze. My nephew tried to help, and is furly computer literate.

Then a couple of days later. I was let go from my job, because of downsizing from our wonderful country destroying itself. Nuff on that subject.

So for about the same price as Trying a new HD. I got a used dell on ebay. Not much ram with it. But I figured I could put my gig in it and be doing pretty good. But then of course that didn't work.
.......

After me Failing with the trendmicro this morning.

I went back to the ZA forum.
Saw something about try System Reg Mechanic(someting like that)
It wouldn't open after installing it. But comp said it was, and wouldn't let me uninstall it.
I ended up going into the HijackThis program I tried this morning from trendmicro and Killed it. : ) Then uninstalled it(Mechanic).

Spybot S&D sounds real familiar. I must have had it on my previous comp.

If I can get this comp back under control. I'll definately look into AVG and firefox.
Or
Probably when I get done writing this. Not much better to do, but try more stuff.

Turn off system restore. Delete all internet explorer temp files. Shut down system and reboot into safe mode. While in "Safe Mode" do a virus scan and when done run "Spybot Search & Destroy". Delete all items in quarrentine. Reboot into normal mode and see how things are. If all is OK, turn system restore back on.

You can also use malwarebytes software (free). It does a decent job of registry repair and cleaning.

If the image worked.

Spybot has me confused on what I want to do in the pop-up.
I've been clicking "Deny change".
Is this what I want to do?

And as usual, I wouldn't know if I wanted it changed because it's a good thing or not.

Update of last uhhhh hrs...

DL'd Spybot S&D
Turnt Off system restore
Cleared files
Rebooted w/ No Luck with F8. When I press this right after seeing my processor light for the first time. It stops doing anything. As in, quits loading. Does nothing. Sits there on my desk, with a blank screen in my face. : /
Held in power button.
Shut down
Hit power button
Let load normally

Spybot kickd in wanting to scan before windows loaded. So I let it.
Somewhere around 2 hrs(?) later it finished. With nothing said about anything.
Windows loaded

Then Spybot wanted to run again. I let it again.
Probably another 2 hrs later.

It had found this...
VIRTUMONDE.PRX

Deleted(?) it and some spyware cookies.

Went back to Trend Micro to see if that would run now.
As you can see in the pic(if it shows up), it ran now. : )

But, I'm not sure if it's picking up on files that aren't a problem. And need to be changed. - the boxed mentioned above in the pic.

It did get rid of 1 trojan.

Where it says "2 infections" next to the trojan. It used to say 3.

Also removed 11 grayware.
And some cookies.

Thanks Everyone for all the advise and help so far.

It's amazing how much better help you get in an Aquarium Forum, than a forum set up by the makers of the firewalls. LOL @ them. I'm not laffing too hard though, they did take my money for something worthless. Which puts them right in the same catagory as the idgit's making the viruses in the first place.

You ay have to do this twice. It should work.
