UGF Carbon -> Spong conversion?

A simple screen will block the fish, the sponges are reducing the effectiveness of your filter. There should be no, repeat no particulates coming up the lift tubes of your UG. If there are particulates in the output stream, then your substrate and the underplate void need cleaning.

Sponges are not a good idea IMHO & IME.

Look into RUGF. They are the opposite for UGFs. They are much better IMO.
