Ugh. I thought this would be fun.

The red hat society? LOL

The barrette with the netting is exactly what I was going to try to find first. Then, you know those little feathers that are skinny and poof at the end? I want to find those too but I'm sure I wont be able to.

The red lipstick is a must, naturally:D, and I happen to have very long hair so the curls are definitely going in a big pile.

I'm thinking if I get two feather boas, I can kind of line the neck of my shirt/dress with it and use one for the bottom of my dress maybe (or even just carry one) and will definitely use some of it for the headpiece if I can't find some real feathers.

Thanks heat! By the by, I hope you don't mind me asking, but...are you a girl? If you're not, you're a very, very helpful man:D

*chuckle* yes female... heat aka heatergrrl aka Heather. :)
BTW... Red Hat Society There's more than you'll likely ever want to know about the Red Hat Ladies on that site. My mother thinks she needs to be one and her friends are considering starting a chapter up this way so I've been shoved into finding her info. lol

The skinny feathers that have a lot of height to them... like on the top of Big Birds head... you may be able to buy just them from that custom costume shop.

Michaels oh yeah you can find anything at Michaels or Joann's or any crafty type store

Red Hat Society you know what is funny I never even heard of them until my kids bought me a red hat with feathers last year for xmas, every body was asking if I was a member, told them I had never even heard of it it was a gift from my kids, but supposedly you are supposed to wear a purple hat if you are under 50 and little girls wear pink hats I was told

Ok. Well here's the scoop. Going on heat's (wonderful) suggestion, I went and looked for red hats and walmart and found *the* perfect hat for 12$. I'll post a picture of it later because (I'm a little embarassed to say), I actually adore it and will most likely wear it when we go to the track this summer.

Then, you'd think a simple feather boa would be easy to find. Guess again! We looked everywhere! Claires used to have them but all they had were stoles, wally world had none, even in the kids dress up section, neither did KB toys or Toys R Us (and I know both places used to. However Toys R Us did have some but they were small and flouresecent pink with sparkles). Finally, after a few other craft stores (michaels and joanns), we found an iParty store and they had some. The red one I wanted was wayyyy too fluffy and 25$. I ended up getting 2 fairly thing black ones for 8$ a piece that I'll put side by side.

While we were there, chris stumbled upon a set of fake metal die cast guns with holsters (boys ) and THE tackiest, ugliest most stupid cowboy hat EVER. It's black felt with a silver sequin star and I really hate it but I couldn't talk him out of it. I wanted to drive up home tomorrow morning and get the real hat he has but we would have no part in it.

I'll have to check out that Red Hat Society link because now it's got me interested:)

I'm pooped, having just got back from hunting all day - and on top of that, there's a gigantic snowstorm we were out driving in and just about everything is cancelled!

Thanks so much guys (errr girls):)

Well I went ahead and joined the RHS, but I was told wrong if you are under 50 you wear pink hats and lavenders dresses so I will have to find a pink hat somewhere I suppose or make my own :p

I'm starting to wonder if the Red Hats is as contagious as ich?

Glad ya found something that would work and we want pictures! As for the tacky hat that your counterpart got... well there's no accounting for taste... besides sometimes tacky is more fun. :D
