Ugly biggest honkin worm/leach?

It's definitely an unnerving feeling to see one go up the python. And where there's one....there's usually another one or two or three. They do stay totally under the gravel thank goodness. I had the page bookmarked as a favorite but we recently got new computers so all was lost. I still continue to search and see if I can dig the picture up. There's no mistaking it for a leech or anything else. The picture is totally accurate to what I had found.

Here's a link to pictures of the exact same worms that I found and it seems they are harmless flatworms that commonly get introduced into the tanks from plants from Florida. They are blood red, coil up in a little ball and then can stretch out for a few inches! When I took mine out of the tank and plopped them into a jar for observation, once the water got cold it balled itself all up. Watching it change shapes is weird!

sounds like a leech.. I have been fighting them too..

they can compress into a nearly ball shaped blob, and stretch out to move. they flatten out to wiggle and swim through the water..

I have been removing them with a gravel vac, but keep finding more..

I think I would try sic-ing a turkey baster on that bad boy !! Good luck.

Debbi nice worm looks cool but the article says when frightened they curl up in a ball and well Vicks tends to swim off like the dickens lol By that alone I would say its a safe bet its not ur aquatic worm. I still guessing its a leech.

turkey baster all the way! I had someting in my tank a few months back and I just sucked them out with a turkey baster whenever I saw one.

By the way, what is the stocking in your tank?
