ugly brown algae growing

My tank has a lot of brown algae i guess its because of all the silica in the water. Anyways, i would rather have green algae in the tank because it looks better then the brown does haha. Will green algae eventually overpower the brown algae and prevent it from growing? Or will i always only have brown algae?

try leaving the lights on longer .. the green should eventually outcompete the brown diatoms.
