So I entered my lfs yesterday with dark intentions, a fish-in-cycle for two recently purchased 30g tanks. I asked for a hardy fish and the employee scooped up about 70 guppy/endler (not bad looking fish).

I want to do what ever I can to make the process as quick and painless as it can be.

What I've done so far:

-seeded with my established tanks sponge filter
-added a good amount of plants
-mixed old bio media with new seachem matrix and Eheim Ehfisubstrat Pro
-dosing seachem stability and nutrafin cycle(both the internet tells me are useless)
-put trays filled with my established tanks sand in the new tanks

Is this an alright plan? Any tips?image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

I didn't see anything related to testing.

I expect with the seeding you will be fine, but testing will make you sure.

Do you have a plan for the hybrids once complete?

I'll buy some 5 in 1 strips, but I really don't trust them anymore

Idk, keep a few and sneak the rest back into the pet store.

I'd suggest a good liquid test kit..

but really, if test strips show no ammonia or nitrite, you should be fine.

Like said above, if each of these tanks was setup with healthy, established bio media, you'll have an instant nitrogen cycle going on and you did more harm than good introducing these fish. You could have stocked them as you wanted them (with proper testing of course).

Problem is, with ~70 guppies scooped out of a LFS most likely undermaintained feeder tank, who know what nasties are going to be introduced.

+1 to the possibility of disease and parasites.

Alright, hold up you two.

They came from a local breeder, show no signs of illness and were quarantined.

This is 4chan level fun posting.

Reported.

You stated in your opening post you went to your LFS.....leading people to think of what they consider as to quality there. There's nothing to delete/edit here except a word in the OP's initial post and a derogatory comment in post 7 and I have done so. Wish you luck with the tank.
