Umpteenth tank stocking question

WHich is more entertaining to watch? Khulies or clowns? And of the 2, who would be more active in the early evening...this is my de-stressor when I get home from work, I have a recliner next to the tank. Even with what I have now, I sit and watch, count heads to make sure everyone is ok and see what they're up to.

Or should I get both?
 
If you want to see them go for the weather loaches. They swim up behind my arm in the tank and ' goose' me, by sucking on my arm. They take flakes if I stick them on my wet finger. They swim up to the surface and suck the flakes off. Its like a tiny massage. And they don't hide, except uring nap time in the afternoon. They are most active in the morning and evenings. They cuddle together and chase each other, in my tank the weather loaches are the most fun. Of all my fish, people coment on my loaches the most. Oh and watch them spring around like elastic bands when the weather changes too. They are a good community fish and don't have a mean bone. Personality is like a corydora, curious and playful. They like skinned frozen peas and play 'loach hockey'. I can't say enough about 'em. :)

I like the weather loaches--they can be a bit hyper, and need to have a really well covered tank, or they end up carpet surfing. They aren't as hard on snails, IME, either.
 
Dojo?
I was in the fish store recently and they were having problems just keeping the dojos in the tanks. They had to weigh down the glass tops just to keep the little buggers from pushing up the glass and climbing out.
 
I have a well covered tank..nice glass hinged covers, and just cut out enough for the tubing for the filter and the wire for the heater. What about both weahter and kuhlie loaches? How may would you have in a tank?...55 gal planted, and I do want those snails eaten!!
Would you have all 3 kinds in 1 tank?
 
I've had weather loaches and kuhli's in the same tank with no problems. They pretty well ignored each other.
 
Yup. They are good, big snails will do fine. Mine are diggers and i think they're either heading back to Japan or looking for those malaysian trumpet snails that overpopulate my aquarium anyway. The big apple or mystery snails are safe because they have a trapdoor. By the way, weather loach will survive for a long time if they escape your tank, they can breath atmospheric air. They nip to the top for a gulp regularly and then push the air out thru their ...ummm....anus. Bubbly. :)
 
Apple snails are not safe from persistant loaches. While they have that trap door, being kept inside the shell for too long results in starvation--I lost mystery snails before I sat down and watched the dang kuhli's pester it to death, taking a nip every time the poor snails would crack the perculum open. I had one gold mystery that managed to lay eggs before being bullied to death (unknown to me--I was aghast that it happened), and the kuhlis took about 6 weeks to kill every single snail from that egg sack--more than 50 of them that I saw.

I had this big apple snail overnight before I took it back to the shop because it razed all my plants. I saw the 2 dojos trying to roll it over and get underneath, but they gave up went away after a time and left the snail alone (it was a big big one). But I could see it happening. Yes..

Savage bunny that there bunny is, isn't it?
