Undergravel Jet

I'm not giving up, just rethinking. My wife says I enjoy beating my head against a brick wall sometimes. Why run the UGJ for only 1 hr a day. I wanted the UGJ flowing all the time so I will be able to remove the power heads. Hooked in-line with my C-360 I would have only 1 set of pipes. The mag 5 has a rated output of about 500 gph the C-360 shows a flow of 360 gph. I wasn't sure if the difference would harm the C-360 or starve the Mag 5.

You can certainly run them all day. I have a plants that do not necessarily appreciate a ton of current so my personal opinion was showing through. Either way I would probably set it up as a separate system.

Both...if you ran the mag inline after the canister pump, there's a good chance the mag would be cavitating because the canister would basically be a restrictor on the intake. I would just run them separately, If you're doing CO2, you should have enough plants to be able to hide the pipes coming down in the corners.

The picture on pg 2 (post 28) shows the needlewheel in parallel with the canister, not in series. Is this plan refuted further on in the thread?

You are correct about the picture but on into the thread they talk about running them in-line I'm going to pm the ones that are doing it and see if any problems have developed.

Waiting on the pump from Greenleaf. I've got every thing else ready. I've set up a 55g so I can relocate my fish while I set everything up. I plan on taking pictures of the setup that I'll post here when I start. This may be the best thing since sliced bread :thm: or it could turn out like passing gas in church :mad2:. We'll see.
