Underwater paint?

Has anyone ever used paint in their aquarium. Specifically, I am considering painting the intake tubes for my UGF black to better blend with the background. Are their any paints that are safe for this use?

Many products have a toll-free number you can call with questions. I'd copy that down in the store, and give the manufacturer a call. You'd want to know if the paint will stick to plastic and if it's food safe.

I tried that with an epoxy I was going to use, and the mfgr told me not to use it below the water line, and that it wasn't food safe or safe for fish. I'm glad I called!

You will want to let the paint outgas and cure until it doesn't stink at the very least.

perhaps an easier solution, would be to find some black plastic tubing of the same thickness and diameter of your lift tubes. Then cut to length. You can probably get it at home depot or other hardware stores on the cheap.

To follow up on the black tube idea. I remember someone postinng about using the plastic you put over a shower curtain rod to change it's color.
