I have altogether five platys and they are all male. I have found that male platys are very aggressive and therefore i have to split them up into several tanks. One is kept on his own as he is the least aggressive. He is so unhappy. His fins are always clamped and he won't eat. He either hides or stays in the top right corner. what shall i do? All my other fish are fine.

PH 7.4, Quite hard, nitrite 0, nitrate 25

Hello............:welcome:

Welcome.

I have never encountered an aggressive Platy, but every fish is unique.
Could you provide a photo of the fish.

It could be a Psycological problem. Clamped fins does not sound good but if this is the only fish left in a 50L it will be difficult to pinpoint a cause or even an effect.

well I hope I can be of some help I have had platies and mollies and I do know u have to have atleast 3 females to 1 male because they can become aggressive.... they are very sexual fish...so they need some play every oncein a while
