So i went to my local petco, and they never have anything interesting so i usually just glance. My tank has alot of interesting fish like Sydontis cats, bumblebee cat, angelicus loach, zig zag eel, etc... so i like to keep it non-traditional, anyways I see they were selling Plecos for $3.99 but they were all boring plain ones, the common I have now I lucked out with and he is covered in polka dots and a lrge sail fin, anyways I wasnt gonna gamble with another common. As i was browsing the plant tank i saw this pleco way in the back, looks like he was a left over from an old shipment and they tossed him in, he was pretty much the only fish in this large planted crowded tank, minus a few guppies.

He has a golden and black calico pattern and really light colored eyes, yellow almost...I cant tell what he is...perhaps you guys can help. The pics aren't great since all i had access to was a camera phone, but maybe someone can tell!

Thanks!!

Vivid coloration has nothing to do with whether or not they're a common. Pattern, shape, and fin rays are how you should be determining the species, and quite honestly, those pictures don't allow for even a close guesstimate. Try setting the camera on macro, shutting off all the lights in the room and angling the flash at the glass and see if you can do any better. There's just no way anyone is going to be able to give you a definite answer from the pictures you already posted.

That could be almost anything! I'll gamble on Pterygoplichthys pardalis but with those pictures it's a long shot!
