I never get any arguments at all. They all get along fine. I originally boaught 6 Corys, 3 of them were born in the 29g. I had to set up my old 10g as a fish overflow tank, which allowed me to get another Betta. I may gat a small school of Neon Tetras for the 10g soon. I would go for a Betta over the Guppys. I had Guppys bu they just got me in too much trouble, I kept finding babies in the tank. The Bettas are great fun, really clever fish.
