I recently moved to a new home and set up my tank. There is a high content of phosphates in the water here and have had problems with suspended algae (water was completely green in 3-4 days). I just aquired a new RO/DI purifier; when i shut off my my filters to drain the tank and replace the water with the purified water I noticed literally thousands of small brown organisms. They are aproximately the size and color of yeast but swimming vigorously along the glass walls in the top 4-6 inches of the tank. The tank inhabitants are: 5 Jumbo neon tetras, 2 plecos, 1 chinese sucker, and snails from the plants of my last aquarium. Plants include Dwarf Lillies, red and green Nymphaea Lillies, and Hybrid Aponogetons. Anyone have an idea of what these organisms may be?

They are a bit too large for paramecia. Possibly daphnia but no idea the source. Nothing has been added to the tank for several months and feed consists of flake food and occasionally frozen bloodworms.

You did add something new, in a matter of speaking. Most likely they've been there for a while but in such low numbers that they were never noticed. Soon as the algae bloom came - food!!! And, consequently, a population explosion.
