unknown fish

Wild caught fish help keep the captive bred ones healthy Kelly. I hear what your saying to go from a 2,000,000,000+ gallon river system or a 20,000 gallon pond to a 60-150 gal tank. But if wild specimens werent caught there wouldnt be a large diversity of genes which would cause inbreeding which we all know is not good. I personally wouldnt want wild caught they tend to be more difficult to keep from what ive read.

yes this is what i meant, just feel a bit sad i guess for the poor little fish who are caught. i think as long as the person who has caught them knows their specific needs and can give them a decent life its ok. i guess i do get why their gene pools need to be mixed, strengthening the fish with new genes. lol i just have a soft side and i dont think i could ever happily own a wild caught critter.

fully understand your sympathy for the fish kelly. um i was thinking bullhead for the darker cat too, but the light colored one has a flatter head and im thinking its a different type. and you are right about the shiner. the pics look exactly like the fish i caught.

heres a couple of vids of today catch. they are all going in to a 50 gallon tank until our pond is finished. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEQe5c7F41w this small bullhead was the smallest catch of the day and is going into my
personal tank until hes big enough to go in with the others.

oh and kelly i forgot to tell you not to feel bad for these ones or the others the big puddle they were in will dry up in about another week, so technically im saving them.

:y220e: ok i have to say well done on saving the little guys then, must be awful for them to sit and dry out in the heat, i cant imagine that would be a nice way to go ;) definately best to be with you then.
