I was looking at my tank today and I noticed some sort of worm looking thing crawling down the glass. It was purple and the closer I looked, it looked like it was a snail of some sort, but it didn't have a shell. I took it out and looked at it under a microscope but still have no idea what it is. it is about 2mm long (and I accidentally killed it) and I'm afraid if there are more that they will be harmful to my fish. I added 2 new plants about 2 days ago so they must have come in on those.

could you draw it?

Here's the pic the best way I could remember it. This is magnified of course and I'm guessing that the cream colored area is the mouth.

No it isn't planaria. I've had plenty of those and have even done studies on them (I'm a biology student). I haven't found anymore but I will keep an eye out for more. I did discover a have a bunch of baby bladder snails though.

Limpet?

From your descriptions it seems to be one of the free-living flatworms. These flatworms are basically small invertebrate predators and harmless to fish. Try doing a google image search for Turbellaria or flatworm. BTW, it just may have been a planarian. Not all have the tell tale flattened or arrow shaped head. Planaria are Triclads ( Order Tricladida ) and are just one of the families that come under this Order. So you also might want try googling ‘Tricladida’ for an ID. Many of the aquarium flatworms I’ve examined under a scope are Triclads. Tom
