Thanks for that ID....

It grows to be a tree???? I looked it up with the name you provided. Seems that as it grows teh bottom fronds fall off, and it just keeps going... up to 15 feet!

I have a 10 foot one in my house. Yes you prune back the old leaves on the bottom and it grows up, the bottom becoming a trunk.

Now that you mention the trunk thing - yup, I've got 3 pairs of 'em. Average height 1m. Leaves at the tops only.

I have one of those as a house plant, it is just starting to shoot up and drop its lower leaves. There are colorful aquarium plants, but it is hard to find them at the petco/walmart type store. I've actually had better luck at petsmart, but they do sell non-aquatic mondo grass as well.

yep the second plant will grow to be tree-like.
ive got one on my desk right now lol
