Unsinkable Driftwood

I have a really nice piece of smooth, shelf-like driftwood from Loiusiana I picked up on an e-bay auction some months back. It still has to have a rock placed on top of it to keep it down. It floated for weeks before I finally realized it wasn't going to sink on its own, but I expected it to stay down eventually. It still shoots to the surface when the rock is removed from on top of it.

SOme wood will not waterlog or it takes years and years. There is wood that can take over 50 plus years before it will sink. Boiling will help the wood absorb water, but if after 2 years and it wont sink. It will probably still float after your long gone.

Well, nice to know you guys have had the problem too, and that theres nothing im missing. I took it out a couple weeks ago, still holding water, but think I'll leave it out, Unless I fill it with SS shots, I like that idea:thumbsup: The "Camel Head" was causing territorial issues with my Datnoids. Been having to move decor around every couple weeks to lower aggression, but couldn't move that piece from under the center brace, or it would uproot and swing the marble base at the glass.
I got a trash can soaking with about 5 new pieces of drift. Hopefully these will sink, even if it takes a couple of months:D

Sell it as an emergency flotation device for boaters. Just tie it to the back of your neck to keep your head above water...

Great Idea LOL, could start a new fad among boaters. I could probably screw a chair to it and float down the river. Would have another piece for the cooler full of beer

That driftwood is amazing!
