Wondering about people being surprised by unusual fish compatibility situations. Like two very different species hanging out all the time, One protecting the other, species that forget their not the same and school or hang out as if they were the same species. Successful matches that were unexpected.

i know someone who had neon tetras and a kenyi cichlid living happily together in a small tank. don't try this at home though.

yes, I know it's very interesting when these odd things happen.

My Dwarf Neon Rainbows hung out with my White Clouds and it was really cool to see.

I've heard of a zebra danio thinking it was a molly, and schooling with them.

after vaccuming gravel, doing a water change, or other invasive tank mantainance, my glow lights, otos, and rasboras will all school together. neat-o.

my rts bothers everyone in the tank except the panda corys, actually, the rts lets them go into his log

I've got a book called 'the Bottom Dwellers' about loaches, plecos etc. and the author describes a really strange situation where one discus in a tank turned black. The owner thought it was sick, took a closer look, and was shocked to see a kuhli loach swimming all around the discus, cleaning it - even inside its gill covers - like a cleaner wrasse would. Apparantly the behaviour took place with different discus on different days, and the reason it's bizzarre is these fish live on different continents in the wild and would never come into contact, so this certainly isn't a natural symbiotic behaviour.

Less unusual but pretty cute, in my tank the otos and SAEs sometimes hang out together - I sometimes wonder if they're having a race; they all get together and zoom around the tank once or twice a day while the spectators look on :D

Its pretty funny, my dog sits outside the tank and my goldfish comes over and follows her noes around. My dog is facinated with these fish.
