I am wanting to get a second tank and have a corner in mind. Ive been looking and see the usual rectangle shape tanks, but is there any problems with asking the manufacture to make me a square base and tall tank? say 55cm square bottom and 60 to 70 cm high? (sorry don't know what it would be in inches). I'd like to put plants, a couple of severums and some type of bottom feeder. What does anyone think? Thanks heaps.... :D

Auzzie girl i cant help but want to talk to a fellow auzzie about my hobby where is australia are you i am in NSW

No you can get any tank made that you want But keep in mind a few things Filtration, Water Flow, Heating
More glass are means more heating
Water needs to be keept flowing past plants for them to thrive at least its best anyway
You need to figgure out what type of filter you will use and will it just filter the same water or will it creat to much flow ....

just keep them in mind

LOL, you made me break out my tape measure. Anyways there is one LFS in my area that carries such a tank in stock. At first glance I've always liked the tanks. When I think of it more at even 60cm it gets difficult to reach the bottom and tool around. My second thought is the cost of lighting such a tank sufficiently for plants. Obviously you would need a custom or DIY hood and lighting. I'd say the aquarium is definately workable as a fish only tank, but I would be wary of wanting to plant one.

Speaking of reaching the bottom, does anyone know where you can buy those aquatic gardening tools takashi amano uses?

Pet Solutions.com and Florida Driftwood.com sell tool kits. I'm sure Amano uses the gold plated versions, but these kits will do fine.

I own two deep tanks one is a 5' tall 45g acrylic (what a nightmare)
I just sold a 80xxt 48x12x36"deep the bigest problem is i had to shower before sticking my arm in it to avoid a arm pit deoderent fish kill what a pain!!!!!
Anyway look around oceanic makes a 36"x30"x36" cube and other sizes like that.
BTW I "HAD" plants before I bought sevrums LOL

Thanks so much guys. LOL I didn't think about having to stick my arm in - but your right. I'm only fairly short so my arms aren't very long. I'll have to have a bit more of a think.
