unwanted fish

Not exactly a fish, but we all know what happened to several lakes when someone decided to fish out some eurasion milfoil from their tanks and toss it in the lake.

Releasing non-native fish into a body of water is stupid, IMHO. You're only asking for disaster.

for example: The emerald rainbowfish (Glossolepis Wanamensis), found only in Lake Wanam in New Guinea, is now extinct in the wild because of the introduction of the non-native African Tilapia.

I always keep my fish or trade them with my friends at work. I have 2 20 gallon tanks that have odds and end fish in them. I don’t like to think that some *** that doesn’t know about keeping fish tacks a sick fish in to the store gets a dollar and that entire water system brakes out in a sickness and I have to help pay for them to be treated and might end up with sick fish to.

I’m not getting in to this but I think this is why a lot of places like PetSmart have sick fish. I know there filter system is over stocked but still I know it makes it worse.
to.

When i first started i flushed fish that were mean.. but I regret it so much
I`have never bred any fish..all my pregn`t fish die:sad
I would like to have a sucessful breed sometime soon

IF i remember correctley its petsco or petsmart that have the "better " Aquariams..Walmart just makes me sick

I can't see how a fish that anyone could trade in could be any sicker than fish that they buy from dealers. I would guess that no more than half of the fish bought from suppliers by fish stores live more than a week.

I have had one problem with getting fish and I had one case of body fungus go for all most 2 weeks. I told the store I was bringing them back or they could give me ½ off on the meds. Well I got ½ off on the meds. It was semi my fault by putting them at risk with a mini cycle, I didn’t know at the time it was going to happen. I thought my plants would keep it from happening.

My LFS has pretty good fish, they won’t let you bring fish back and if you do they put them I a large tank in the back. That tank is the sickest tank I have ever seen. I don’t know why he keeps them, but why take a loss on people giving him fish that are sick but you don’t know yet? I would rather go to a place that try’s to match the fish to your tank and make it a do not return on all live stock.

I don’t think the breeders are sending sick fish so how are they getting sick? I think the sickness is mostly coming form the tanks of the customers. You need to go shopping after church and see everyone that gets fish but not knowing anything about them. You know they don’t use the same shop all the time. I believe this is why so many people get sick fish and it will not stop until the store says no more returns on live stock.

Have you ever got a sick fish using male order from a real fish supply company? Isn’t this where you LFS gets there fish? Would you LFS buy sick fish? Do you trust your LFS?

Pleas think about this. Where is the source stuff like Ich coming from? Do you think a lot of people have it and don’t know to treat it or just get new fish when there’s die not knowing why they have died?

My brother owns a fish store, and yes, sometimes he gets sick fish from the supplier. It happens.

In some petstores that sell fish, the workers are not educated on real care for them, so yes, some do get sick.

An inexperienced buyer ends up buying them and then lose them. Why do you think it's suggested by published and expert fishkeepers to have a quarentine tank before added a new, store bought fish to your community?

Think about it.
