Yesterday I bought some "Stability" (live bacteria) for my tank. It was recommended to me by the owner of my LFS. I added some last night and this morning. Hopefully this will help speed up my biological filteration, as indicated on the bottle.
These are my readings as of today:
Temp: 78.2
PH: 8.2
Ammonia: .20
Nitrate: 5ppm
I have a canister filter, protein skimmer, and two power heads all going.
I tried to feed my eel again, he came out to check out what I had, but still wasn't interested. I turned the lights off in my tank as well to hopefully give him/her a more stressfree environment. Intense lights can be exactly that "intense."
So hopefully with the live bacteria, moon lighting, and no more disruptions for a couple of days, my eel will be interested in eating by this weekend?! I don't know how long they can go without food. My LFS said he's okay right now because it is 1 1/2 feet long and with a girth of an adult thumb.
I've decided not to add any more live rock at least for a couple of days since that may or may not add to the stress of the tank. No more water changes for the rest of the week either.
