Update (NO LONGER GETTO TANK!!!)

Hey guys just thought that i should make some updates on my no longer getto tank lol

I just picked up a Tetra Whisper Internal Filter....seeded it with some media "juice" from my 15g, and wow it really works well, at first i was kindda put back by the fact that it uses bubbles to draw in the water but it really works well! (i decided to use a air pump i had around, it is a bit more powerful)

I am gunna be buying a small heater after christmas and put in sand for the first time, and then i will be puttin in an ADF or 2.

P.S. I CANNOT WAIT TO DO SAND BECAUSE it was pointed out to me today by my dad (and he is totally right!) ALL MY TANKS LOOK THE SAME lol same gravel (did not meen to do that) and same rocks! lol

Just an FYI for you since I use that particular filter in my betta tank. It's really no good for biological filtration - only mechanical. You could drop a couple ceramic rings in there to hold some bacteria, but as is, it's not like the regular Whisper filters that have a bio-sponge to hold bacteria. Your good bacteria is going to live on the tank ornaments and in the gravel. So if you're planning on cycling the tank now, keep in mind that if you replace the gravel with sand down the line, all your good bacteria will be wiped out.

yep i will be adding all different stuff after chrstmas.... and ya **** ur right bout changing to sand ok well i really wanna do sand so i guess i will just do my 15g in sand and keep my 3g with gravel instead!

As a new member I've enjoyed the discussions about the different types of fish and fish keeping. You have some very nice fish and seem to really enjoy them. If I may ask, why did you refer to one of your tanks as a "ghetto" tank?

Like people have said, that filter is not very good and you run the risk of sucking up your shrimp.

A small sponge filter would work very good for your tank.
