Well i haven't had any more fish die since that last one about a week ago (i think it has been a week). I sold my discus back to the fish store since i felt i wasn't giving them the life they diserve. So now i have 2 zebra danios, 2 glow light tetras, 2 scissortail rasboras, 2 silvertip tetras, 3 julii cory, 3 black phantom tetras, and my pleco. My tetra schools were minimized to two from the strange deaths. I treated my tank with melafix just as a precaution b/c it says on the label that it is safe to treat as a precaution! Then i bought some Polyguard, which is a freshwater medication for bacterial, fungal and parasitic diseases. I have treated the tank twice with it and no more fish have died. the people at the fish store were stumped with the deaths as well and suggested maybe it was an internal parasite since there were no physical problems. My fish still look very happy and their exterior looks fantastic, identical to pictures of what they are supposed to look like. I am going to continue to treat the tank once every 3 days for 2 weeks as the directions say, but when that is done i would like to restock my tank. I am going to first make my tetra schools bigger with 3 or 5 fish per species. I would then like to add harlequin rasboras and rummy nose tetras. Do you guys have any idea what else i should add and how many more fish do you think i should add? I have always heard the rule and inch of adult fish per gallon. I don't want to over stock my tank and have more fish die.
suggestions????

oh by the way... i really like platies, variatus, and swordtails but i know they need salt. will they be happy in my tank without salt. i don't want to add salt b/c i heard it can be harmful for cories and most importantly PLECOS!

They'll be perfectly fine without salt... Most livebearers are anyway because they have to be to suit many aquariums. I keep guppies and mollies in my aquarium without any salt, they live long, happy lives for the most part. (I would add salt except for my loaches) So, don't worry about it, I think that swordtails and platies do better than most livebearers with the lack of salt.
