Unfortunately he/she is going nowhere. It gets moved around the tank by the other fish and is on the bottom now gasping. Shall I leave it to die or just put it out of its/our misery? I hate to give up hope that something might happen overnight when all calms down but due to my last post and the opinions I got we are all on the same page. :thud:

Goodnight to all and goodfish!! Life goes on..... :)
Happy Holidays!

I personaly would let it live out it last hours, I personaly could never "put a fish out of its misery" but that just me, just like I could never put a person "out of its misery".

I am sure many will say I am inhuman for that, but I always feel that life is the better option even if it is just for a few more hours.

(puts on his flame retardent suit, I am going to need it now)

Yes and I have. The light is off, the others are resting, the kids are asleep, the low glow of the xmas tree lights are on and all is calm. I will be going to sleep soon(it is 11:15pm here now in CA) and will see what the morning will bring.

Thanks MikeO for you thoughtfulness :) Have a great holiday and bless you and your family.

Unfortunately he died overnight. His friend, I am happy to say is doing great! He is in w/our betta and they are getting along swimmingly.

Does the cory need another friend or will he be ok on his own?
Thanks again for your kindness!

Yea I know, I'm a dope! No new tank yet. Will get the 10g today or tomorrow. The kids were driving me nuts. I feel so guilty about the other one!!
Anyway, you can let me have it if you want, I deserve it!
Thanks for your help.

nah i just thought you were going to see how the betta was doing for a few months before going bigger.
HA, you dont deserve it! sounds like the guy was doomed before you even put him in the tank. The experience you just had is nothing to my first tank...it was a sad time...

Thanks!! I was going to wait to go bigger and may have to until next week but they are doing great now (of course I had to get another one to replace the lost one). Keeping a close eye on all of them. If anything gets crazy I will go out immediately and expand.

See ya!!
