Update on new cichlid tank

I say filtration sounds good and 12 hours of lighting would be ideal..

I still don't like that reading of 0.3 for nitrite. Do at least a 25% partial water change and keep doing it weekly. Use a chlorine/chloramine remover and a beneficial bacteria additive with each water change.
As for lights, I use 6500k super daylight; many friends here also like for cichlid tanks the 50 daylight/50 actinic blue.
